As summer hits its stride, many gardens start to lose momentum. Early blooms fade, colors soften, and things can start to feel a little tired.
But not at Kiesler Farms.
Summer is when our fields come alive with bold color and oversized blooms that thrive in the heat. Our summer crop is designed to carry your garden through the hottest months with plants that don’t just survive, they stand out.
Whether you're adding color to your porch, refreshing your landscape, or looking for something unique to offer your supporters, here’s what we grow at Kiesler Farms:
The showstopper of summer.
With massive, dinner-plate-sized blooms in vibrant reds, pinks, and whites, hardy hibiscus brings a tropical feel to your garden without the tropical maintenance. These plants love the heat and put on a continuous display when many others start to slow down.
Planting Tip: Give them full sun and plenty of space. Hibiscus can grow large, so plan for room to spread and keep the soil consistently moist for the best blooms.
Asters begin blooming in late summer and carry that color into the season's transition. Their bright purples, blues, and pinks add depth to your garden while attracting bees and butterflies when pollinators need it most.
Planting Tip: Space asters 1–3 feet apart for good air flow and to reduce the risk of powdery mildew. They love full sun and well-drained soil.
Also known as Nippon Daisies, these classic white flowers with glossy green leaves bloom from September until the first frost. They’re a timeless choice for fall displays and continue to impress even in chilly weather.
Planting Tip: Cut them back in early summer to promote full, bushy growth later in the season.
Our specialty and most popular fall crop! We grow seven vibrant color families—yellow, orange, red, white, purple, pink, and coral—each with multiple bloom variations to offer color from August through October.
Mums are perfect for porches, patios, entryways, and garden beds. We offer:
8" mums, ideal for landscaping or medium-sized containers.
Hanging baskets and patio pots, filled with mums that thrive without needing to be planted in the ground.
Planting Tip: Place mums in full sun and water regularly to extend bloom life. For long-lasting enjoyment, avoid letting the soil dry out completely.
Fall flowers like mums, asters, and Montauk daisies aren’t just beautiful—they’re critical for supporting pollinators as they prepare for winter. By planting late bloomers, you’re helping bees, butterflies, and beneficial insects thrive well into the season.
Care Tip: Add compost when planting to improve soil and encourage strong root growth. Water deeply after planting, and mulch to retain moisture and protect roots through winter.
Whether you're planning a fundraiser that stands out, looking to decorate for fall, or creating a garden with seasonal beauty and purpose, Kiesler Farms has the vibrant, locally grown plants you need. We take pride in growing each plant right here in Southern Indiana—offering freshness, quality, and variety you won’t find at big-box stores.
